Easier said than done, right?
My path from laid off flight attendant to writing for places like the New York Times and landing a Big-5 book deal came with a heck of a lot of turbulence. If there is a mistake to be made, I've made it. If there's an insecurity to be felt, I've felt it!
I now have more than 15 years in this industry, and I STILL feel that way sometimes. All of my clients have felt that way, too. So I guarantee that you’re in really good company.
Those fears are a good thing! It would take some serious arrogance to walk into a new industry and think you already know what you're doing.

Before working with Tiffany, I had almost given up hope of securing traditional publishing for my memoir. Tiffany held my hand through the process of creating a polished proposal. She helped me find the best agents for my project, and cheered me on when the proposal requests and offers came in. After two weeks of querying, I landed the perfect agent for me....and then a lucrative book deal.
Yes, You Can Get Results!
"Tiffany broke a giant project into weekly steps and encouraged me to keep going until I finished. She understands what needs to be done and explains each part clearly.
I always knew what I needed to do and did not get overwhelmed by the whole project. I was thrilled to be sending out my query letter and book proposal. Two of the agents I queried quickly asked for the whole proposal and one of them is now representing my book!”
—Lisa Niver, journalist, blogger, and author of Brave(ish), (forthcoming 2024, Post Hill Press)
"Working with Tiffany is amazing on so many levels. She helps writers gain so much power and purpose through their words. She provides needed insight and experience based on her own incredibly successful writing career. And, maybe most of all, she fosters the authentic sense of confidence that ALL writers need. Tiffany is the best!"

Before working with her, I’d queried agents and gotten no response despite having the opening chapter of my book published in a major journal. I’d thought my query and synopsis were good but thanks to Tiffany, they are SO much stronger."

I’m an award-winning traditionally published author and writing coach. I have an MFA in creative writing, more than 15 years experience in the publishing industry, and have written for places like The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, GQ, The Week, and NPR’s “All Things Considered.”
I’ve been on both sides of the desk—as a writer pitching my heart out, and as a gatekeeper reviewing queries from publicists and writers. I know what it takes to get an agent or publisher’s attention.
My students and clients have traditionally published with big NY houses and smaller literary presses, self-published, won awards, reached #1 Amazon bestseller status, and been featured in places like the LA Times, Narratively, McSweeney’s, Harpers, and The Atlantic.
Never stare at a blank page.
I've strategically designed each lesson to build on the last so that each section of your proposal feels entirely doable.
You'll also have worksheets, templates, and cheat sheets to for every single step. Use them as a jumping off point to write a highly personalized proposal that will show off your book's unique value.
A war chest of sample proposals will help you envision various ways of highlighting your particular strengths.

Frequently Asked Questions
While the course materials are designed to help you finish your proposal in 8 weeks, this is self-paced, so you can move as quickly or slowly as you need to. You will have access the class materials indefinitely, and if I ever close the course in the future, I will give you a minimum of 30 days notice so you have plenty of time to download anything you still need. You will have 6 months access to the the live calls and replays.
You don’t have to be either of those things, but you should have some experience with writing effectively, whether that’s through a blog, newsletter, or content for speeches or podcasts. I’ll teach you my best (and quickest) techniques to turbocharge your writing.
You don’t need to have a platform yet, but you do need to be willing to build an avenue for reaching readers, so we’ll work on finding the most effective ways to do that using your personal strengths. This does not have to be based on social media. Have you seen how little social I do? 😆 It’s actually kind of embarrassing.
Both of these options can be valuable and are worth considering.
To self-publish, technically you don’t need anything more than a document and a way to upload it, but to effectively sell to readers, you must stand out with a fresh, well-positioned concept, a transformational story, and a strong publicity plan.
Ask yourself this: Would you start a business without a business plan?
Reputable hybrid publishers are extremely selective. Even those who don’t strictly require a proposal will still be looking for a strong and focused concept and writing sample, along with a viable publicity plan.
I do! I'm not going to draw you in and then put you with some other coach you haven't heard of.
Although I will give you live feedback on your query letter during office hours, no, I will not be editing your proposal within this course. I wanted to make this course as accessible as possible, and at this price point, I can’t read or edit materials. I do occasionally have 1:1 packages with feedback for alumni of my courses, so you will be notified if/when those open up.
